On September 29th, Chamber members and community guests gathered at the Trails Regional Library for our September open meeting.
President Jennifer shared updates on event logistics, including set-up times for Fall Fest (10 AM–12:30 PM on Saturday, Oct 4) and details about vendor placement, parking, and entertainment. She also reminded members of upcoming holiday events like Trunk or Treat (Oct 31), Small Business Saturday (Nov 29), Cookie Stroll (Dec 13), and the annual Tree Lighting (Nov 29).
One of the night’s highlights was Mayor Perry Byerly’s presentation about the Base Community Council (BCC). The Chamber is joining this regional council to strengthen ties with Whiteman AFB and support programs such as Adopt an Airman and Home for the Holidays. “I’m really excited about the possibilities of us getting together,” Mayor Byerly shared, noting opportunities for both sponsorship and community volunteerism.
Open floor speakers included Tammy Long of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, who introduced new health insurance options for small businesses, and Tracy Brantner of Johnson County Economic Development, who highlighted free small business counseling services.
Chamber elections are in process! Nominations are open and nominees will speak at the October 20th meeting. Positions include Vice President, Secretary, and three Directors. Members are encouraged to nominate themselves or others at knchamber.org/board-elections.
As Jennifer closed the meeting, she reminded everyone of the Chamber’s momentum this year: “We have a heart for the community, for our businesses, and for our town. Let’s keep the energy going.”
